Part 18 Rakib-Khaneh building, is one of the masterpieces of the Iranian architecture in Isfahan. It was constructed at the time of Shah Abbas I of Safavid Dynasty. The building was used to keep harness and riding equipment of the royal family. From the building, a private corridor, passing through Aali-Qapou Gate, gives way to Naqsh-e Jahan Square. Since the downfall of the Safavid Dynasty, Rakib-Khaneh was left derelict.
At the time of Qajar dynasty, the building was repaired by Haj Mohammad Hussein Khan Sadr Isfahani. When Masood Mirza Zell ul-Soltan, Naseraddin Shah's son, of Qajar Dynasty, ruled over Isfahan, many historical monuments of the city were destroyed. But Rakib-Khaneh along with another building called Jobbeh-Khaneh were reconstructed in the style of Qajar architecture. Later, Jobbeh-Khaneh developed into the governor's court and Rakib-Khaneh into Zell ul-Soltan's resistance.
During the Pahlavi reign, Rakib-Khaneh was allocated to the Statistics Department. In 1994, Isfahan Province's Cultural Heritage Department General turned Rakib-Khaneh to the Museum of Fine Arts.
